Kimdles Homemade Soy Candles
Clean & Long Burning

Are your candles 100% natural?

Our soy wax contains natural botanicals and beeswax (less than 2%) to improve performance and appearance of the candles.  Once fragrance and/or dye is added it is no longer a "natural" product but still remains a cleaner burning candle.

Why is it important to trim the wicks?

Trimming the wicks will keep the candle burning without tons of black soot and it will give your candle a longer burn time.   When a wick gets too long it cannot draw wax all the way up to the top of the wick. Therefore, the wick itself will start to burn. You will see some soot if your wicks start burning themselves.

The wicks should be trimmed to a 1/4 inch everytime before you light your candle. Nail clippers provide the easiest and best cut! So keep those wicks properly trimmed and your candle will burn cleaner.

Why do I see some black soot in my Soy Wax Candle?

A small amount of soot is a normal by-product of burning. Whether you are cooking on the stove, burning a fire, or a candle. But, soy wax is not toxic. You can dramatically diminish the amount of soot given off by keeping the wicks trimmed short. (see above)

The only completely "soot free" candle flame is a natural gas flame. This flame is completely blue in nature and has what is called a complete combustion.  Can we get a candle flame to combust completely? Well, almost. Candle Flames, wood burning fire places, all have incomplete combustion which produce soot, but the good news is it is not the toxic black petro carbon soot that you find in petroleum based candles.

My home is a very open floor plan. Will one candle suffice?

Results vary from home to home and nose to nose! Our soy votives will fragrance a smaller room such as bedroom or bathroom. The Metro Jar can successfully fragrance a larger room such as living room, den or rec room. We find the melts give an incredible scent throw and can fragrance quite a large portion of our home.

How long do Soy candles burn?

Our soy candles will burn approximately 7-9 hours per ounce.

Can Soy Wax candles fade in colour?

Some of them do. We recommend that you keep your candles in a cool and dry place when not in use. Most fading occurs when candles are exposed to direct sunlight or fluorescent lighting.  As of March 2008, we are adding a UV inhibitor to keep our colours fresh!

Why is there white markings on my candle?

The white marks you may experience on your candle is simply a trait of soy wax.  It is called a "frost" or "bloom".  This does not  affect how your candle will burn, and often, once you have burned the candle, once it re-hardens it will not have those markings.  Because soy wax is a vegetable based product, you can expect this from time to time.  In and effort to reduce the frosting on our candles, we add about 1% beeswax to our blend.  Personally, I find it adds a very "natural" look to the soy candle.
